Big Data Engineer will join Akamai which is an american company with their biggest european office located in Kraków for 8 years now. Being in charge of the content delivery network they support about 30% of the daily network traffic while managing about 260 thousands of servers located in more than hundred countries around the world. Akamai’s products and services are used by inter alia 30% of companies from Global 500. Therefore, Akamai’s customers include giants such as Apple and Microsoft, but also service providers present in our daily lives like HBO or BBC.
Currently, due to the products and services development Akamai is searching for a Big Data Engineer in Kraków.
Big Data Engineer will join a geographically dispersed Platform & Reliability Engineering team of 7 engineers that on a daily basis ensures the performance of Akamai’s global content-delivery platform. They establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators, make configuration changes safely and oversee and operate over 300k+ servers in Akamai’s global network. At the moment the team consists of mainly backend engineers (Python) (and few frontend developers) and the Big Data Engineer’s role is a new function coming to the team based on the technological and workflow needs (more about responsibilities below).
Within this Platform Engineering Team the core of Big Data Engineer’s responsibilities will be around managing the intake and processing of the third party metric data meaning inter alia ensuring that data ingest is complete and accurate, developing and executing workflows and pipelines, writing automation and automated tests for data integrity and taking care of ETL processes for various relational and non-relational databases. There is no development expertise needed – the role is focused on data and some basics of any scripting language. Doesn’t it sound like an interesting challenge for you as a Data Engineer?
