Software Engineer (backend OR fullstack)

About the company: 

Software Engineer will join Akamai which is an american company with their biggest european office located in Kraków for 8 years now. Being in charge of the content delivery network they support about 30% of the daily network traffic while managing about 260 thousands of servers located in more than hundred countries around the world. Akamai’s products and services are used by inter alia 30% of companies from Global 500. Therefore, Akamai’s customers include giants such as Apple and Microsoft, but also service providers present in our daily lives like HBO or BBC.

Currently, due to the products and services development Akamai is searching for a Software Engineer in Kraków.

About the role:

Software Engineer will join one of the teams from the Web Security group in Akamai thus he/she will take part in developing innovative solutions that help Akamai’s customers protect their websites. The scrum team consists of an Engineering Manager and 6 other engineers (including QAs) who are all located in Kraków and together they are responsible for developing web applications (mainly development of new features and products). This Software Engineer’s role is backend focused, but if you are open for fullstack responsibilities or development, you’re more than welcome to do so!

What might be interesting for you?

The team in Kraków takes care of a portfolio of security products inter alia configuration application in the Web Application Firewall group or API Protection which is currently being built almost from scratch. There are elements of Machine Learning and Data Science being implemented by these engineers as well in order to integrate information on for instance logs from various Akamai’s services. Previous experience in these areas as well as in security is not required, but it is an opportunity to develop further in these aspects as well. 

Requirements:

• solid backend development experience (Java, Spring, Hibernate),
• analytical skills (inter alia knowledge on basic algorithms, data structures),
• cloud experience is a big plus.

Tech stack includes inter alia:

Jaca (11 – 13 (Java 14 soon)), Spring, Hibernate, IntelliJ, (frontend: Angular), Azure, Docker, Oracle DB, Cassandra, Bitbucket, Confluence, Jira, Jenkins

3. Tech interview with 2 other Senior Engineers from the team & live coding (1h).
4. TBC: short, final interview with another Engineering Manager (about 30min.).
